   Paul Chambers, on the other hand, with "Bass on Top" avoided all the mistakes of the Watkins album (though not consciously as "Bass on Top" was cut in ). Chambers does a lot of superb bow work, however he keeps his bread and butter abilities on the bass front and center/5(7).

   ‘Bass on Top’, Paul Chambers’ second album for Blue Note was recorded on 14th July For this quartet recording, Chambers is joined by drummer Art Taylor, pianist Hank Jones and guitarist Kenny Burrell, whose playing is a highlight and a delight throughout.

   No.1 Double Bass player. His bowing throughout the album when called for is sublime,and the compositions are all good. I unreservedly recommend this album to all jazz lovers. It would certainly appear in my top 25 jazz albums. I will now be interested in hearing further albums by the illustrious Mr Chambers!!/5(51).
